Tofino & Ucluelet Whale Watching Tour Tips:

With so much life in the rainforest and so much bustling in the villages, just wait until you see what is
going on underneath our waters!
Tofino and Ucluelet both sit on the edge of Vancouver Island, British
Columbia
, Canada and at the doorstep of the huge Pacific Ocean that is full of life! Out here you can
regularly see
humpback, gray and killer whales, bald eagles, black bears, stellar and california sea
lions
, sea otters, harbour seals, river otters, porpoises, deer, wolves, intertidal life and more all in
ONE TOUR!

Charters leave daily from Tofino and Ucluelet for
nature cruises, eco tours, whale watching, bear
watching
, seafaris and more! Start your journey by cruising through the harbour, passing fishing vessels,
soaring bald eagles, noisy sealions and
ocean kayak paddlers on your way out to the open waters to find
feeding whales, or into the islands to view old villages where first nations had lived for over 5000 years!

Today, local charter companies have formed a friendly bond and keep in close communication by radio, so
that the first to find the whales will inform the others of their location. This ensures everyones enjoyment of
the wildlife. Many charters will stop to observe rocks inhabited by sealions, or large eagle's nests in the tall
trees, as well as common feeding shores or creeks where black bears are often spotted. The three types of
whales you can see on the west coast are Humpback Whales, Gray Whales and Orcas (Killer Whales).
They can be spotted feeding, slapping their fins and tails on the surface of the sea, jumping and twirling
above the surface of the water, or simply swimming along in pods, often rising to breathe. These magnificant
animals are graceful and gentle, and must be respected with a comfortable distance from the boat. Skippers
will ensure this distance is maintained, and will often cut the engines while sitting and oberving these
amazing mammals.

Be sure to book any adventures or tours prior to travel, especially if you plan to visit between May and
September, as things book up quickly during that time.

Feel free to use our adventure enquiry form which will get sent to all of our specified West Coast Tour
partners. Works great for quick quotes and availabilty!
